Above the Corner

A neighborhood rooftop tambayan above Camputhaw where ₱250 cocktails, board games, and the IT Park skyline replace the day every evening except Tuesdays.

Chapter One

Three Storeys Above

Not a tower bar — a residential rooftop with a coffee menu before the cocktails arrive.

Above the Corner sits three storeys above the quiet residential edge of Barangay Camputhaw, on the rooftop of Eden's Place where C. Rosal meets Acacia Street. The location is unusual for a Cebu rooftop venue — not a high-rise in Cebu Business Park, not the polished sky-lounge floor of a corporate tower, but a low-slung neighborhood corner just a short walk from IT Park's after-work crowd. That's the point.

The opening idea, as the café presents itself across Facebook and Instagram, was a "tambayan" — a Cebuano word that loosely means a hangout spot where you stay for hours without watching the clock. The cafe opened quietly in late 2023 and grew through word-of-mouth.

The day-to-night arc is the venue's signature. From mid-afternoon the rooftop functions as a coffee shop with board games, card games, and an arcade-style basketball machine. As the sun drops, the menu tilts toward cocktails and beer, the lights warm up, and the rooftop becomes a bar. Because Camputhaw is residential, the louder games quiet down by 11 PM and the night settles into conversation, music, and the breeze that any open rooftop in Cebu earns once the day's heat lifts.

Chapter Two

A Hidden Tambayan

How the room is described — not destination, neighborhood.

Local review fragments describe Above the Corner as a "hidden tambayan corner" — a phrase echoed by Food Craving Reviews and Cebu Insights coverage. Visitors highlight the open-air breeze after sundown, the unexpected pleasure of playing Uno or Jenga over an Amaretto Sour, and the friendly, unhurried staff.

The rooftop is praised as a quieter alternative to IT Park's louder venues — "good for catching up with friends," as one Sugbo.ph-style roundup framed similar spots. Editorial tone: neighborhood gem, not destination spectacle.

Chapter Four

Atmosphere & Practicalities

Open-air, low-key, family-friendly until 11 PM.

The view faces inward toward the Camputhaw / IT Park side of Cebu City — low-rise neighborhood rooftops in the foreground, the IT Park towers and Cebu Business Park skyline glowing in the middle distance after dark. Seating is a mix of casual café tables and lounge corners — the "Hidden Tambayan Corner" is a more enclosed nook added after the original opening. Music is low-key and conversational; on busier nights it leans into chill playlists rather than DJ sets.

Practical notes: hours are 4:30 PM–1:00 AM, closed Tuesdays. The rooftop is open-air, so heavy rain is a contingency — covered seating exists but capacity tightens. Dress code: casual. Reservations not strictly required for small groups but recommended on weekends via Facebook or +63 917 716 9911. The basketball arcade shuts at 11 PM out of respect for surrounding residences.
